Happy Easter

Hey folks! As you can see I've been in full on crochet mode these last couple of weeks. I even managed to knit a chubby little chic. Isn't he sweet!

Meet Ramona, Ana, Mary and Jennifer! Each of these clucky (get it!?) ladies is guarding a chocolate egg. Nom. The pattern I used is from Idea Ivana and it's free - big thanks to Ivana for dreaming up and sharing such a fun project.

I also want to say hello and thank you to Adele of Nice Things By Adele *waves*. A few weeks ago I won this cute little bobble hat egg cosy through a competition on her blog. It arrived swiftly and atop a creme egg. Thanks so much Adele!

Obviously, the chocolate didn't last long but I soon found a new use for the bobble hat. It's a perfect fit for Dave the chick!

I hope all you lovely people have a great Easter break. I plan to watch movies and eat ALL the chocolate.

February

The past month has been a super busy one that's gone by in the bit of blur. I found time to make these pretty crochet flowers and I'm working on a few more. I'm mulling over what to do with them - bunting, brooches? What do you think?

There's been a bit of scrapbooking with these cute little stickers and pretty floral papers.

I sorted through my fabric stash. Just look at the pretty colours and patterns! One thing I want to try this year is quilting. Hopefully I'll find some time to get started on that soon.

No blog is complete without pics of some recent treats! Clockwise from top left: my chocolate dipped meringues, salted caramel and chocolate icecream at the pub, a delicious pistachio biscuit at Aromi, pancake with caramelised apples and homemade salted caramel. YUM! I knocked up a banoffee pie with the leftover salted caramel too.

I hope your February has been as tasty as mine!

Super Scary Crochet

My mum got me Super Scary Crochet by Nicki Trench for my Birthday last year. It is awesome! I really enjoyed making the ones I've done so far! The book has patterns for so many hilarious characters, from 'Walter the Werewolf' and 'Bernard Bigfoot', to 'Dr Death' and 'Natty the Batty'.

Above you can see Baby Jane and Blanche from the film 'Whatever Happened to Baby Jane'. I made these for a colleague of mine to give to someone for Christmas (I hope they liked them!). I made the characters before I'd seen the film, and now that I have seen it I understand why they both look quite deranged and why Baby Jane is holding a rat!

Next up is 'Colin the Cannibal Cockerel'. Apparently, Colin is a lovely cockerel... until there's a full moon. Finally we have Mr Pumpkin Head, a great guy to have around at Halloween.

Owl Mug Cozy

This owl mug cozy was a Christmas gift for my good friend Amy of Movie Writing. I knitted the owls and ribbed edging, then used double crochet to lengthen the sides for a snug fit around the mug. I finished with some pearlescent buttons to fasten and some black sequins for owl eyes.

I'm afraid I'm unable to share a pattern as I didn't make a note of what I did. I just went with the flow and made it up as I went along! I occasionally do the same thing when baking. I get so wrapped up in the creative moment that I forget to make a note of ingredients, quantities and methods. Since starting this blog I've definitely been better at recording what I do when I bake. I'll endeavor to do the same when I next go on a freestyle knitting and crochet adventure!

Rudolph

He's having a jolly old time on our Christmas tree! I made him using rowan tweed and the pattern in Mini Christmas Crochet.

Colourful Crochet Scarf

I  thought I'd share a recently finished project, which was a belated Birthday pressie for my good friend Amy. I used a pattern from Ravelry. It's called the Isar Scarf and is really easy to follow. It's also free! I used King Cole Splash double knitting wool and made cute little pom poms to finish it off. I love the rainbow of colours, and I hope Amy does too! I'm hoping to make another one or two of these (in different colours) for Christmas pressies, so I'd better get my crochet on! Are you making any gifts this year?

I should also mention that Amy writes fantastic film reviews - check out Movie Writing!

Crochet Daisy Cushion

This week I finally finished my crocheted cushion cover. If you follow me on Instagram you'll know I've been working on this for a fair few weeks now. Well, here it is...

I love the pretty little daisy granny squares and how they've brightened up the living room. I found some great instructions for making them here on Bunny Mummy. They're dead easy to make and - I'm sure my fellow crochet lovers will agree - super addictive!

I made 50 daisy grannies in total, 25 for each side of the cushion. I joined them together with an invisible stitch (see this helpful tutorial) and added a border before stitching around the sides. My cushion is now sitting pretty on the sofa.
